About Chef Chris

I grew up in a kitchen that never really slept. My earliest memories are filled with the smell of cornbread in the oven, a pot of beans simmering on the stove, and my mom teaching me how to taste before I could walk. My grandfather showed me how to clean a fish, my grandmother passed down her cookbooks — pages splattered and worn from years of love — and somewhere in all that, I fell in love with cooking. Over the years I turned that love into a life, spending more than two decades cooking in restaurants, building menus, and feeding people all across Western North Carolina. I’ve cooked for crowds and for quiet tables of two, but what’s always mattered most to me is that food brings people together. My style is simple: real ingredients, honest cooking, and a story behind every bite. I like dishes that feel alive — grounded in where we are and who we’re sharing them with. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with and leading incredible teams at places like Tupelo Honey in Asheville, Twisted Laurel in Weaverville, Cast Iron Kitchen in Burnsville, and other beloved spots across Asheville and Spartanburg. Each kitchen taught me something new — about food, people, and the power of a well-cooked meal.
