About
Chef Cody
Hello! My name is Cody, and I have had the privilege of experiencing various aspects of the Culinary & Hospitality Industry. From starting as a dishwasher to becoming an Executive Sous Chef and now a teacher, my journey has been both challenging and rewarding.
My passion for food and nutrition began early on, and I pursued my education in this field with great enthusiasm. I earned an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University. To further expand my knowledge, I obtained a Master of Science in Nutritional Science from the same institution.
In addition to my formal education, I have acquired several certifications that have contributed to my growth as a professional in the industry. These include Servsafe Proctor, Servsafe Managerial, and Servsafe Allergen certifications.
I began my career in the Culinary & Hospitality Industry working in public schools, where I have been teaching since 2020. I have spent four years in high school and one year in middle school, sharing my passion and knowledge with students. Teaching has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, allowing me to apply my knowledge in a hands-on setting while fostering a fun and laid-back learning environment.
My experience extends beyond teaching, as I have worked in various settings, including public and private country clubs, 4-star hotels and resorts, and higher dining education. I have also worked as a personal chef and have had the honor of working with a Certified Master Chef and a Food Network "Chopped" winner.
Throughout my career, I have always strived for excellence and believed that my biggest critic would always be myself. While I do not limit my "style" of cooking to a specific cuisine, I enjoy taking my knowledge and applying it to any menu I encounter. I find joy in having fun in the kitchen and classroom, creating a relaxed atmosphere that encourages learning and growth.
In conclusion, my journey in the Culinary & Hospitality Industry has been diverse and enriching. From dishwasher to Executive Sous Chef and teacher, I have gained valuable knowledge and experience that I am eager to share with others. I hope that you have enjoyed learning about my profile and look forward to hearing from you soon!
